Moms Project: Home Starter Kits

Outreach Project: Home Starter Kits

A United Way partner agency, the H.O.P.E. Center provides housing and support for victims of domestic violence.   This organization helps women in the midst of crisis and also in their transition from the shelter to permanent housing.  The shelter staff helps women find new homes and helps these women register for WIC and Welfare.  However, the women often leave

the shelter with only a few dishes, towels and toiletries.

While moving into a new, safe home is an exciting progression, it can be an overwhelming experience for anyone, but especially for families with few resources and belongings.  Luckily, with food stamps and local food pantries, food is available to help families stock their pantries, but cleaning supplies and basic household needs are hard to obtain for struggling families.

The Moms’ Group of St. Paul’s is organizing an outreach project to relieve some of the stress for these families.  Can you imagine moving into a new home and not having

a trash can, a broom or paper towels?

Home starter kits (trash cans full of supplies) will be purchased and assembled by members of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.  We will have these kits on hand in the church primarily for women who are leaving the H.O.P.E. Center shelter and moving into new homes.

The H.O.P.E. Center employees will pick up the kits when their clients are ready to move.

Please consider helping us assist our community.
